There isn't much that pushes a person to action as much as viewing a destitute child. The ads on TV featuring child poverty in Peru or other third-world countries push us to sponsor a child, and many individuals find themselves looking for the phone before the commercial is even over. However, others like to mull over their decision to give and want to know more about sponsoring a child.

Whether you prefer a religion-based child charities is dependent on your personal feelings. There are Christian charities and charities for most other major world religions, as well as ones with no religious affiliation at all. Secular charities include the United Nations and other international organizations.

When deciding to sponsor a child Peru, most individuals will want to go through a non-profit organization. Donations to non-profit organizations are tax-deductible for many people, and these organizations often undergo government scrutiny so they are designated as a tax-exempt non-profit. Nevertheless, beyond these basic requirements, some non-profits are much more proficient than others, so it's smart to research them before committing to a sponsorship.
